Normal is Different, Different is Normal

Once upon a time, while a herd of mighty mustangs were racing across the meadows into the sunset, they came upon a pure milk white colt in the nearby flower fields. Out of curiosity and pity they decided to take in the baby and raise him as one of their own. Although the new child grew and adapted to the herd quite quickly, he was still having difficulties fitting in the group. First off, he had an albino shine in his coat, unlike the glossy chocolate mustangs’. The young incomer also couldn’t eat plants but Skittles, and whenever he’d fart or poop he’d have small rainbows & butterflies out instead. To top his insecurities he had, he was growing a sharp nudging horn on his forehead. Soon the pain of being laughed at and splitting headache growing made him run away from the herd. He ran all the way to a mystical waterfall, where he was shocked not only because of the sight but of the fact that a pack of creature that looked like him were gathered there. While mesmerized, a nearby adult galloped towards him and asked if something were wrong. The lad asked, “What am I?”; he was responded with, “Why, a unicorn of course.” Still bewildered he questioned once more, “B-but, I’m not normal…?”. Yet again he was given simple but wise words, “Normal? What is normal? To only do what the masses do? And what is the benefit of that? Where is the problem in adopting a custom that is ‘abnormal’ if it has no negative effect on the world at large?”
